SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Sinopec subsidiary Maoming Petrochemical is expected to increase operating rates at its aromatics line to 60% after its No 2 cracker restarts on 19 June, said a company source on Monday.
"The aromatics unit restarted and operated at 30% after the No 1 380,000 tonne/year cracker resumed on 5 June, and it will reach to 60% after the No 2 cracker restarts," he added.
The No 2 620,000 tonne/year ethylene cracker was expected to operate at 50% capacity after it resumed production on 19 June.
"The No 2 cracker may need two more months before reaching full capacity because three of its six furnaces will not be able to restart this week," the source said.
The aromatics plant can produce 240,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 140,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 105,000 tonnes/year of xylene.
