LONDON (ICIS news)--AkzoNobel has agreed to sell the decorative paints brands Para and Crown Diamond in Canada to General Paint, the Dutch coatings major said on Monday.

The divestments were ordered by the Canadian competition authorities before the company acquired coatings rival ICI in January 2008.

The deal was expected to close on 30 June after regulatory approval.

AkzoNobel said it was also making progress with the sale of its Crown business in the UK and Ireland, and the divestment of several brands in Belgium.
