SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Chinese epichlorohydrin (ECH) major Shandong Haili Chemical started up its third 80,000 tonne/year unit in Zibo, Shandong province in mid-June, a company official said on Thursday.

Haili operates two more units at the same site, each with an annual capacity of 80,000 tonnes/year.

"The new unit is currently running at 80%, and the No 2 unit is operating at full rates," the source said.

"The No 1 unit was shut yesterday for a brief two-day turnaround," the source said, adding that the No 2 unit would be offline for a couple of days after the first unit resumed production.

Domestic ECH prices in China gained yuan (CNY)300/tonne ($43.60/tonne) to CNY16,000-16,300/tonne DEL (delivered) east China this week after local producers hiked prices due to rising manufacturing costs, according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
