SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--Malaysia’s sole methanol producer Petronas plans to shut down its 660,000 tonne/year methanol unit in Labuan for maintenance for 10-12 days in August, a company source said on Wednesday. ?xml:namespace>
The maintenance was being undertaken to upgrade a natural gas pipeline that would also be linked to a newly built 1.7m tonne/year methanol unit in Kedah that was expected to come on stream in October, the source said, adding it would cancel spot cargoes to China in July.
