LONDON (ICIS news)--LyondellBasell’s cracker at Berre, France went down unplanned late on Thursday, bringing down polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) production at its nearby Aubette site, a company source reported on Friday.

“We expect production to be back up by next Tuesday, “said the source.

The cracker has a capacity of 530,000 tonnes/year of ethylene and 255,000 tonnes/year of propylene, according to ICIS plants and projects.

LyondellBasell produces 320,000 tonnes/year of low density PE (LDPE) and 350,000 tonnes/year of PP at the Aubette site.

Both PE and PP markets were under strong upward pressure to increase in July, as producers proposed hikes of up to €200/tonne ($317/tonne) for business next month.
