LONDON (ICIS news)--Pakistan's government has told importers that it will not apply the Pakistan rupees (PRs)1,000/50 kg bag ($15/50 kg bag) subsidy to phosphate fertilizers currently in stock, but imports arriving after 1 September will be eligible, importer sources confirmed on Tuesday.
Importers and government officials were meeting in ?xml:namespace>
Importers immediately objected to the proposal, arguing that they would have to increase domestic prices straight away.
They countered that the subsidy on diammonium phosphate (DAP) should apply to imports arriving after 1 July. The government was reportedly considering the proposal.
