LONDON (ICIS news)--Spanish producer Interquisa has lifted force majeure on purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and is running production at normal rates, confirmed a company source on Wednesday.
“We are now running normally and are building our inventory levels,” added the source. "Demand into derivative polyethylene terephthalate is below normal levels so we should be able to build PTA stocks fast."
Force majeure was lifted from the San Roque site in
Force majeure had been declared at the end of April after one of the two PTA lines went down unplanned at the site, which has a nameplate capacity of 800,000 tonnes/year, according to ICIS plants and projects.
The bulk of the PTA market was expecting another price increase in July, pending the settlement of the upstream paraxylene contract.
Interquisa recently merged with other CEPSA subsidiaries into CEPSA Quimica.
