LONDON (ICIS news)--Shell Chemicals has opened its expanded flexible polyols plant in Pernis, the ?xml:namespace>
Shell increased the plant’s capacity by 100,000 tonnes/year to 255,000 tonnes/year to meet demand for polyols in slabstack foam, CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers) and moulding applications, it said.
The expansion made use of existing assets by improving process technology, which Shell said had lowered energy consumption and carbon emissions.
Shell first announced the expansion on 1 June 2007.
