NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s Gupta Synthetics Limited (GSL) has closed some of the production at its fire-damaged polyester textiles plant at Silvassa in the Union Territory of Silvassa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, about 160 km from Mumbai, the company said on Wednesday.

In a brief communication to the Mumbai stock exchange, the company said the production site had “suffered heavy loss/damage” due to a fire that took place on mid-night of 29 June. The loss estimation was ongoing, it added.

The company did not specify which operations it had suspended or when it would resume them.

The company manufactures partially oriented yarn (POY), polyester chips, fully drawn yarn (FDY) and draw texturised yarn (DTY) at the site.
