HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US titanium dioxide (TiO2) producer Tronox on Wednesday announced it would increase prices in Latin America and Mexico to compensate for higher input costs.

The company said it would raise prices for all TiO2 grades by $150/tonne (€95/tonne) effectively 15 July 2008, or as contracts allow.

“These increases are required to ensure the industry can profitably reinvest in the business to meet customers’ needs in the future,” the company said.

The announcement follows an industry-wide effort to recover margins amid soaring input costs and weak downstream demand.

TiO2 is an inorganic white pigment used in paint, coatings, plastics, paper and many other everyday products.
