SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Mitsubishi Chemical has restarted its 375,000 tonne/year No 1 cracker in Kashima, a day ahead of schedule, a source from the company said on Thursday.
"The company restarted its No 1 cracker today morning and has achieved on-spec material," the source added.
The cracker was shut down on 13 May for maintenance and the company had initially delayed the restart to 4 July.
The company would proceed with its plan to shut down its 476,000 tonne/year No 2 cracker in Kashima from 6 July to 21 August for maintenance, the source added.
Mitsubishi operates three crackers with a combined capacity of about 1.3m tonne/year.
