Sayanskhimplast posts stable H1 PVC output figures

MOSCOW (ICIS news)--Major Russian manufacturer Sayanskhimplast produced 134,083 tonnes of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) in the first half of 2008, up 0.3% year on year, the company said on Friday.

 

In the January to June period, Sayanskhimplast also produced 86,760 tonnes of caustic soda, 2.6% up year on year, it said.

 

For the full year, the company aimed to produce 250,000 tonnes of PVC and 172,370 tonnes of caustic soda, the company added.

 

Based in the Irkutsk region, Sayanskhimplast had announced plans to raise its PVC output to 400,000 tonnes/year by 2011 and up to 600,000 tonnes/year eventually.

 

In April, the company commissioned Germany's Uhde to build a new 200,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) unit, which it said was due on stream by October 2010.
