MOSCOW (ICIS news)--The Berezniki sinkhole caused by flooding at Uralkali has not moved closer to the bypass rail line, local authorities said on Wednesday.

By 3 July the sinkhole was at 101 metres from the by-pass rail line, unchanged with the previous week ending 27 June, the authorities of the Perm region said in a statement on 8 July.

The overall size of the sinkhole was at 395 by 290 metres, up from 395x282 metres on 27 June, the statement said

The sinkhole was caused by flooding at Uralkali’s Berezniki 1 mine and grew towards the rail line used for potash shipments by Silvinit and was also close to an 800-metre bypass railroad line.
