HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compound producer PolyOne said on Wednesday it has formed a Japan subsidiary to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Cleveland-based company said PolyOne Japan “will focus on gaining specification with Japanese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and the importation of products for use by Japanese polymer processors”.

PolyOne is a major producer of PVC compounds used to produce vinyl products such as siding and fencing and is one of the largest US consumers of PVC resin.

“We are well-positioned to serve the needs of the key industries in the country, including electronics, automotive, packaging, and bio-related materials,” said Willie Chien, vice president and general manager of PolyOne Asia.

The company said Kurt Schuering, PolyOne's vice president of corporate accounts, will oversee the business development operations of PolyOne Japan.
