SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean synthetic rubber producer LG Chem has shut down its 35,000 tonne/year nitrile rubber (NBR) plant in Daesan on Thursday for debottlenecking, a company source said.

"We will be down for 10 days until 19 July to debottleneck the plant to 50,000 tonnes/year," the source said.

Demand for NBR has been robust, with prices rising more than $200/tonne in the past month to around $3,200-3,000/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Asia.

"We will raise our spot offers to $3,600/tonne for fresh shipments as we have limited stocks," the source added.
