SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese refiner Idemitsu Kosan will restart the 50,000 bbl/day residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) unit at its Aichi refinery on 17 July, a company spokesperson said on Friday.

The RFCC unit had been shut down on 3 July due to  catalyst problems. “The RFCC unit is still undergoing maintenance. It will be restarted on 17 July,” the source added.

The RFCC shutdown did not cause any disruptions to its 160,000 bbl/day crude distillation unit, the source said.

The Aichi refinery is a purely fuels refinery located around 30km from Nagoya city. It supplies oil products to the Chubu region in central Honshu.

Idemitsu Kosan operates four refineries in Japan with a combined capacity of 640,000 bbl/day. In addition to Aichi, the company operates a 220,000 bbl/day refinery in Chiba, a 120,000 bbl/d refinery at Tokuyama and a 140,000 bbl/d refinery on Hokkaido.
