China’s Shanxi Antai plans DME, methanol units

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China-based Shanxi Antai group plans to build a 200,000 tonne/year methanol unit, a 100,000 tonne/year dimethyl ether (DME) and is also considering an acetic acid line at Antai Industrial Park in Jie Xiu City, a company source said on Friday.

"The company has plans to build a methanol and a dimethyl ether (DME) plant and was also considering an acetic acid unit, all at the same location in Antai Industrial Park," the source added in Mandarin, declining to provide any financial details of the project

The company expected to break ground on the project in 2009, the source said, adding that it was also considering the construction of a 200,000 tonne/year acetic acid unit.

Shanxi Antai is a major producer of metallurgical coke in China.
