HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan’s Point Lisas number 4 ammonia plant in Trinidad and Tobago is back at full operating rates, a source close to the operation said on Friday.
The production, combined with Terra Industries’ reopening of its US ammonia plant earlier than expected, has the potential to weaken US demand for imported ammonia.
The plant was taken out of service on 2 May to replace an internal heat exchanger in one of the facility’s ammonia converters, when managers decided to use the down time to carry out more extensive maintenance, the source said.
The facility then reopened on 22 June before recently reaching full capacity, the source said.
A spokesman for Potash was not immediately available for comment.
