PolyOne starts India business unit

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--US polymers producer PolyOne has created a business unit that will import, manufacture and sell its products in India and nearby markets, the company said on Tuesday.

The unit, PolyOne Polymers India, will have a production and lab facility in Mumbai, the company said.

Construction should start later this year, PolyOne said. Colour masterbatch production lines should start operations in 2009, as well as a colour lab.

“Expanding our presence in India is an important milestone in the implementation of the globalisation and specialisation components of PolyOne’s strategy,” said Willie Chien, vice president and general manager of PolyOne Asia.
