US exports 49% more DAP in June 2008 - TFI

LONDON (ICIS news)--US exports of diammonium phosphate (DAP) in June reached 553,308 short tons - 49% up on June 2007 - as producers shipped more product to India, according to data released by The Fertilizer Institute on Wednesday.

The vast majority - 95% - of DAP was exported to India, which took 523,507 short tons. Was also a rise of more than 106,000 tonnes from the 445,727 tonnes exported in May.

US DAP producers were expected to increase shipments to India in June to avoid any inventory build following a slow domestic spring season due to poor weather.

US monoammonium phosphate (MAP) exports reached 115,548 short tons, down 11.2% on June 2007 levels.

Contract volumes to Canada were 45,189 short tons, equivalent to 39% of the total, followed by Brazil with 29,762 short tons (26%) and Japan with 14,988 short tons (13%).
