SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--The gap between traded prices of deep-sea and Asian cargoes of bisphenol A (BPA) in China has risen to nearly yuan (CNY)500/tonne ($73/tonne), as some deep sea cargo traders were selling at lower levels, traders said on Wednesday.

Deep sea cargoes were being traded at CNY15,800-16,000/tonne, while Asian BPA was pegged at CNY16,000-16,300/tonne, they added.

"Some traders holding deep-sea cargoes faced financial crisis, preferring to sell cargoes," one producer said.

Asian producers did not show much interest to sell cargoes and few deals were done below CNY16,000/tonne, traders said.

A Chinese trader bought a 500 tonne parcel from GE at a low CNY15,700/tonne and the trade was confirmed on Wednesday, traders said.

The gap between deep-sea and Asia cargoes is usually CNY100-200/tonne and the increasing difference in prices could impact domestic BPA values which have shown a slight increase, most traders said.
