LONDON (ICIS news)--Twelve European producers of hydrocarbon solvents have set up a consortium to register solvents under Reach, the Hydrocarbon Solvents Producers Association (HSPA) said on Thursday.
The companies will combine efforts to prepare consistent registration dossiers for almost 80 substances in nine categories under the EU’s registration, evaluation and authorisation of chemicals scheme.
The registration deadline is December 2010.
“The consortium invites all interested parties - other EU manufacturers, non-EU manufacturers, importers, downstream users or other data holders – to join the consortium and play an active role in its Reach work,” the HSPA said in a statement.
The association, a sector group of European chemicals trade federation Cefic, said it had adopted an easy-to-use substance identification system that is compatible with Reach and OECD guidance documents.
This includes the substance nature as ‘hydrocarbons’, the carbon range and the component split, it added. Details are available on the European Solvents Industry Group's web page.
