MUMBAI (ICIS news)--France-based Eliokem is building a new vinyl pyridine latex manufacturing facility in China to meet growing tyre cord adhesion demands in the country and in Asia, the specialty chemical manufacturer said on Thursday.

“The new facility would be able to fulfill about 80% of the Asian markets' pliocord vinyl pyridine latex demand,” a source from the company told ICIS news, adding that the new facility would be able to sustain the growing demand.

The new plant will be located at Shanghai Chemical Industry Park in Caojing and will be in operational by end-2009, the firm said.

Eliokem has already invested heavily in its Le Havre, northern France, plant with the construction of a new reactor commissioned in January 2007 to increase capacity by 20%, it added.
