SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea’s Lotte Daesan has started up its new 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant in Daesan and is running quality checks on the products from the facility, a company source said on Friday.

"The plant was started up about two days ago and the quality control team is still running tests on the products from the plant. Test results should be out by the third week of July," the source added.

The company recently completed a major expansion at its ethylene, benzene, linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), butadiene (BD) and monoethylene glycol (MEG) plants.

Lotte Daesan’s PP is exported by Honam Petrochemical, its parent company, to various markets including China.

Other PP producers in South Korea include Polymirae and Daelim Industrial.
