Singapore’s PCS shuts MTBE plant for turnaround

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Singapore’s Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (PCS) has shut down its 65,000 tonne/year No 1 methyl tertiary butyl ethyl (MTBE) plant for a scheduled maintenance, industry sources said on Friday.

The plant on Jurong Island, Singapore would be shut down from 14 July to 21 August, they added.

Its 100,000 tonne/year No 2 plant at the same site was running at full capacity, sources said.

MTBE supplies would remain tight for the next month due to the PCS turnaround, a source said.

Notional values for MTBE were this week assessed lower by $15/tonne to $1,195-1,200/tonne FOB (free on board) Singapore for August lifting.
