SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korea exported 18% more ethylene in June compared to its May volumes, statistics from Korea International Trade Association (KITA) showed on Monday.

South Korea exported 55,679 tonnes of ethylene in June compared to the 47,177 tonnes it exported in May.

"Lotte Daesan operating its 1m tonne/year cracker at maximum rate played a major role in the increase in export volumes," a northeast (NE) Asian trader said.

China, a big importer of South Korean ethylene increased its June purchase by over 56% to 47,806 tonnes after reducing its imports in May by 36%.

South Korea is one of the largest ethylene producing countries in Asia with a combined production capacity of more than 6.7m tonnes/year.
