Japan's ABS exports rise 13% in June

TOKYO (ICIS news)--Japan’s exports of acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin in June increased 13% compared with the previous year, a local industry association said.

The country’s exports of ABS resin in June were 17,629 tonnes, the Japan ABS Industry Association said in a statement. This was a 12% increase from 15,782 tonnes in May.

Japan’s domestic shipments of ABS resin June, on the other hand, decreased 9% to 26,792 tonnes year on year, which was a 10% increase from 24,259 tonnes month on month, according to the association.

Among the domestic shipments’ total, 7,961 tonnes of ABS resin were shipped for automotive applications, a 3% increase year on year and a 7% increase from 7,431 tonnes in May.

A total of 4,261 tonnes were shipped for use in electric appliances in June, down 14% from June 2007 and up 3% from 4,128 tonnes the previous month, the association said.
