SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwan’s Formosa Petrochemical Corp (FPCC) has delayed the restart of its 84,000 bbl/day No 1 residual fluid catalytic cracker (RFCC) in Mailiao to 29 July, amid mechanical problems, a company source said on Wednesday.

"The RFCC unit was shut early this month for a 10-day maintenance. We restarted the unit but due to mechanical problems, the company has shut the facility again and will restart it on 29 July," the source said.

The shutdown of the RFCC, which produces more then 160,000 tonnes/year of propylene, was expected to cause production losses of around 22,000 tonnes of propylene.

The company’s gasoline production had also been reduced by half, the source added.

FPCC operates two RFCC units in Mailiao with a combined capacity of more than 160,000 bbls/day.
