Hurricane Dolly makes landfall in south Texas

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Hurricane Dolly made landfall on South Padre Island in south Texas, US meteorologists said on Wednesday.

Dolly is moving west-northwest at 7 miles/hour (11 km/hour), the National Hurricane Center said. Its winds have since weakened to 95 miles/hour, making it a category one hurricane.

The hurricane was near Brownsville, 356 miles from Houston, the US petrochemical hub.
