India’s GNFC restarts revamped methanol plant

NEW DELHI (ICIS news)--India’s Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Company (GNFC) on Thursday restarted its revamped methanol-II plant.

With the restart, operations were back to normal at all of GNFC’s plants at its production complex at Narmadanagar in Bharuch district of Gujarat State.

The company had shut seven fertilizers and chemical plants on 3 July due to a problem with an air compressor at its fuel oil-based ammonia plant. The methanol-II plant was already shut for revamp. The revamped plant has nameplate capacity of 157,750 tonnes/year.

The company had resumed ammonia production on 17 July. Subsequently, it restarted its urea, methyl formate, formic acid, acetic acid, ammonium nitrate and toluene di-isocynate plants.
