SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Formosa Chemicals and Fibers Corp (FCFC) plans to cut production at its 450,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) facility at Mailiao, Taiwan in August and September due to a shortage of propylene feedstock, a company source said on Monday.

The producer’s on-site propylene supply would be reduced because its feedstock supplier CPC Corp would be shut in August for a turnaround, while its other supplier Formosa Petrochemical would shut in September for turnaround, the source said.

“There’ll be a significant cut in its PP production in September although it’s not clear exactly how much will be reduced and for how long,” the source said.

Other PP producers in Taiwan are Formosa Plastics and Taiwan Polypropylene.
