HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Brazilian producer Oxiteno will invest in a new acetates plant in Maua, in the area of Sao Paulo, Siresp, the nation's plastic resins union, said on Monday.

The plant will add a production capacity of 40,000 tonnes/year, with an investment of Brazilian reais (R) 51m ($32.3m), the union said.

It is expected that the new unit will start operations in the second trimester of 2009, Siresp said.

The unit will supply resins, inks, varnishes and solvents to the automotive, construction and packaging sectors, the union said.

In addition to acetate production, the company is also planning to enlarge the production capacity of ethylene and oleochemicals, among other products, Siresp said.
