TORONTO (ICIS news)--PPG Industries' autoglass business has been renamed Pittsburgh Glass Works effective 1 August, the US chemicals and coatings firm said on Tuesday.

The company added that the $330m sale of the business to private equity firm Kohlberg & Co was expected to be closed in the third quarter.

"The name Pittsburgh Glass Works captures the essence of our corporate culture," said Frank Archinaco, who will continue as president and CEO of Pittsburgh Glass Works under the new owners.

“It builds on the image and heritage that Pittsburgh was the centre of glassmaking, even before PPG's establishment in the industry.”

The Pittsburgh Glass Works business has nine manufacturing plants in North America and employs a staff of 4,400.
