SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s largest isopropanol (IPA) producer Nippon Oil Corp plans to shut down its 75,000 tonne/year plant in Kawasaki for maintenance and debottlenecking in August, a company official said on Wednesday.
"The plant will be shut around 8 August and we plan to restart it at the end of September," the official said, adding that the IPA nameplate capacity would be increased by 10,000 tonnes/year to 85,000 tonnes/year.
Nippon Oil plans to export the additional IPA to markets in southeast Asia and China.
The official added that the IPA plant would be running at a reduced rate of 70-80% in October due to test runs and production would be ramped up to 100% in November.
