SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Taiwanese polyester fibre and yarn (POY) maker Chung Shing expects to restart its two polyester yarn lines with a combined capacity of 150,000 tonnes/year next week after a two-week shutdown, said an executive from the company on Friday.
"The line was closed for a shutdown from mid-July due to weak downstream orders. We will consider starting up the lines sometime next week but we may not run them at full capacity," added the executive in Mandarin.
She did not specify which day of the week the restart would take place.
Chung Shing’s facility in northern Taiwan also has a 72,000 tonne/year polyester staple fibre (PSF) 1.4 denier line which will be restarted on Monday after a month-long shutdown.
Polyester fibres are used as filling for comforters and winter jackets while polyester yarns are utilised to make clothes.
