SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Asia's largest phenol-acetone producer Mitsui Chemicals has reduced production at its Singapore plant by 10% early this week due to poor economics, a company official said on Friday.
The plant was now running at 90%, but supply to regular customers would not be affected, the source added.
Mitsui restored phenol/acetone operating rates at the Singapore plant in mid-July to increase its inventory levels. The plant had been running at 75% since late June due to crimped margins.
The facility at Jurong Island in Singapore has a nameplate capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year of phenol and 180,000 tonnes/year of acetone.
