SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean aromatics producer Honam Petrochemical will shut down its benzene, toluene and mixed xylene (BTX) unit in October for a catalyst change, a company source said on Wednesday.

The shutdown was expected to last for a week at the Yeosu-based facility, which produces about 150,000 tonnes/year of benzene, 80,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 55,000 tonnes/year of solvent grade xylene, he said.

The exact date of the shutdown was not yet known, the source added.

Key aromatics producers in South Korea include SK Energy, S-Oil and GS Caltex.
