SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China-based Panjin Ethylene plans to shut down its 70,000 tonne/year styrene monomer (SM) unit around 15 August for a scheduled maintenance, a company source said on Tuesday.
"The restart date has not been fixed yet," the source said adding that SM trading activity had slowed down in north China due to Olympic-related transportation restrictions.
SM was assessed at yuan (CNY)11,850-11,900/tonne($1,733-1,740/tonne) ex-tank Zhangjiagang on 1 August, down CNY225/tonne week on week, according to the ICIS/Chemease pricing report.
The company in Panjin city, in the northeastern province of Liaoning, is a subsidiary of Liaoning Huajin Chemical.
