LONDON (ICIS news)--Evonik Industries plans to close its cyanoacetic acid and ester plant in Mobile, Alabama, in the fourth quarter of 2008, the German specialty chemicals group said on Tuesday.?xml:namespace>
The company planned to exit the global market for these products because of overcapacities and competition from ?xml:namespace>
Employees impacted by the closure would be retained in other facilities at the site, Evonik said in a statement.
Cyanoacetic acid and esters are used as an intermediate in the manufacture of products such as adhesives, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
