Evonik closes Mobile cyanoacetic acid, esters line

The company planned to exit the global market for these products because of overcapacities and competition from China.

Employees impacted by the closure would be retained in other facilities at the site, Evonik said in a statement.

Cyanoacetic acid and esters are used as an intermediate in the manufacture of products such as adhesives, pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
