NOON SNAPSHOT - Asia Markets Summary

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Here is Friday’s mid-day Asia oil and chemical market summary from ICIS pricing.

 

CRUDE: September WTI $120.00/bbl up $0.33 September BRENT $118.00/bbl down $0.15

 

Crude prices recovered Friday from 3 month lows on worries that the pipeline that was attacked by Kurdish separatists in Turkey could remain shut for 2 weeks. Supply concerns also rose on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline that remains ablaze after the explosion on Tuesday.

 

NAPHTHA: Asian naphtha prices firmed on Friday amid thin discussions on the opening of the Beijing Olympics. Second half September open spec naphtha contract was assessed at $1,026-1,027/tonne CFR (cost and freight) Japan, up about $4.00/ tonne. First half October open spec naphtha contract was assessed at $1,030-1,031/tonne CFR Japan, a decline of about $5.00/tonne

 

BENZENE: Prices edged higher to $1,205-1,215/tonne FOB (free on board) Korea in line with firmer crude values seen overnight Thursday. Offers were heard for September loading cargoes at $1,220-1,240/tonne FOB Korea against bids at $1,200/tonne FOB Korea.

 

TOLUENE: Prices were notionally assessed stable on Friday at $1,110-1,120/tonne FOB Korea. Bids for first half September loading were heard at $1,095-1,100/tonne FOB Korea and for any September lifting at $1,100/tonne FOB Korea.
