The unit producing 600,000 tonnes/year of SM was shut down towards the end of July and would be restarted around the end of August, the source added. ?xml:namespace>
The company also announced tentative plans to shut down its No 3 aromatics unit - which comprises benzene, toluene and mixed xylene production - for about 40 days in mid-October.
The No 3 unit produces about 470,000 tonnes/year of benzene and 100,000 tonnes/year of isomer grade xylene, with no details available about its toluene production.
