PotashCorp strike continues without new talks

HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A strike at PotashCorp continued on Wednesday with no meetings scheduled to bring unionised employees back to work at three of the company’s plants, the company said on Wednesday.

Company spokesman Tom Pasztor said no bargaining sessions have been scheduled with some 500 members of the United Steelworkers union. who have been striking at the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan (PotashCorp) plants since last week.

The 2m tonne/year plant in Allan and 800,000 tonne/year plant in Cory are both offline because of the strike, while workers are also picketing at a 300,000 tonne/year plant in Patience Lake, which is not scheduled to resume production until 4 October.
