Tosoh to shut down Nanyo VCM plant in September

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japan’s Tosoh Corp will shut down its 400,000 tonne/year vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) plant in Nanyo for a one-month maintenance beginning mid-September, market sources said on Thursday.

The chlor-alkali complex in Nanyo has two other VCM plants with a combined capacity of 800,000 tonnes/year, which would operate normally during the turnaround, the sources said.

It was unclear if Tosoh would reduce its VCM export volume due to the turnaround. The company, among the largest VCM producers in Asia, sells around 10,000 tonnes/month of the product to China.
