SHANGHAI (ICIS news)--China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) plans to restart its aromatics unit in Huizhou city around 25 August after a 15-day maintenance, a company source said on Wednesday.

The unit was shut down on 11 August due to unstable feedstock supply from CNOOC-Shell, the source said, adding that sales had not been impacted during the turnaround period.

The Huizhou aromatics plant produces 120,000 tonnes/year of toluene and 100,000 tonnes/year of xylene.

CNOOC-Shell, also at the same site, provides the feedstock for CNOOC Huizhou’s aromatics plant.

However, a source from CNOOC-Shell told ICIS news: "The shutdown at CNOOC Huizhou aromatics plant is due to a snag at the plant, not the feedstock supply problem of our company."

Both companies are located in Huizhou city, in southern Guangdong province.
