Asahi Kasei to shut down SM unit from mid-October

SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Japanese styrene monomer (SM) producer Asahi Kasei Chemicals is set to shut down its No 3 SM line from mid-October for a scheduled turnaround, said a company source on Wednesday.

 

The Mizushima-based unit producing 390,000 tonnes/year of SM would undergo a turnaround for 30 days, he added.

 

The company’s No 2 SM line has a capacity of 300,000 tonnes/year.
