SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--Mitsubishi Chemical restarted its 476,000 tonne/year No 2 cracker in Kashima, Japan, on Thursday after a scheduled maintenance shutdown that began in early July, a source from the company said on Friday.?xml:namespace>
Production at the cracker, which was taken offline on 6 July, was expected to be gradually ramped up to 80%, he said.
The company is unable to run the facility at full rates as two of its eight furnaces are still undergoing repairs following a fire in December last year.
The No 1 cracker in Kashima has a nameplate ethylene capacity of 375,000 tonnes/year, while the company’s cracker in Mizushima can produce 450,000 tonnes/year of ethylene.
