SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--South Korean petrochemical majors Samsung Total and Lotte Daesan are running their new olefins conversion unit, which can produce 200,000 tonnes/year of propylene, at 70% of capacity, a company spokesperson said on Friday. ?xml:namespace>
The olefins conversion unit, or metathesis unit, was started ahead of its original schedule of end of August, she said.
“We will continue to ramp up production rates to 100% by September,” she said, adding that production was running smoothly.
Propylene offtake, which would be for captive use, would be split evenly between Samsung Total’s 300,000 tonne/year polypropylene (PP) plant and Lotte Daesan’s new 300,000 tonne/year PP plant, the companies said.
