HOUSTON (ICIS news)--A natural gas explosion that sent flames shooting into the air on Thursday morning southeast of Austin, Texas, has been extinguished, Caldwell County officials said.

According to reports from local media the Oasis pipeline ruptured, shooting 400-foot flames into the air.

Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners owns the pipeline, which carries natural gas from the West Texas to the Katy Hub near Houston. The company did not return calls on Thursday afternoon.

It was not immediately clear what caused the explosion.
