SINGAPORE (ICIS news)--China’s Jiangmen Handsome will raise its ethyl acetate nameplate capacity by 30-40% to 140,000 tonnes/year at its facility in Jiangmen city next month following the completion of debottlenecking works, a company official said on Friday.

“We will run the ethyl acetate lines at a raised annual capacity of 130,000 tonnes/year next month,” he said in Mandarin, representing an annual capacity increase of 30,000 tonnes.

The company planned to export up to 5,000 tonnes per month of product to the southeast Asian market, depending on the price and other market forces, the official added.

This was up from average monthly export volumes of 2,000 tonnes in the first half of the year.

The producer’s ethyl acetate cargoes attracted an anti-dumping duty (ADD) of 6.36% in South Korea, which officially took effect on 25 August, the official said.

“The September market is rather quiet at the moment as most buyers are on a wait and see mode,” added the official.

Selling notions were pegged at $1,090/tonne FOB (free on board) China, down $10/tonne from early August levels. Buying notions from southeast Asian importers were heard around $1,030/tonne FOB China.
