HOUSTON (ICIS news)--Lucite is restarting a methyl methacrylate (MMA) unit at its plant in Beaumont, Texas, the company said on Wednesday in a filing with state officials.
The process began on Wednesday, according to a report filed with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
The unit has a capacity of 340m lb/year (154,223 tonnes/year), according to the filing.
The US MMA market has become increasingly tight since early August, when Texas MMA plants shut down production prior to Tropical Storm Edouard.
Domestic prices for MMA were at 134.50-138.00 cents/lb ($2,965-3,042/tonne, €2,046-2,099/tonne) FD (free delivered), according to global chemical market intelligence service ICIS pricing.
